Mayor Ken Jacobs and his obedient City Council are expected to put a street levy on the November 08 ballot. Despite his talk of turning off the lights and the roads falling apart, the world goes on pretty much as before. Some unnecessary lights downtown are out, they were a waste of energy anyway. Some street work wasn’t done and the streets are no worse than before. His little projects, with his engineers and contractors, don’t deserve a hand out in the form of increasing your already ridiculously high taxes.
We can be happy with the Jacobs regime, thankful for the great prosperity he’s provided the town through his wise and benevolent leadership. It seems there are less businesses than when I moved in four years ago, taxes are up, and the town looks even shabbier than an impoverished welfare town should look.
It’s not all his fault. This is a town of sheep, a herd easily led, easily fooled into acting against its own self interests. In this town, being a cow is desirable, fitting in and following are highly prized traits. You don’t want to be seen as a troublemaker, instead, strive to be a good member of the collective.
